This contract is for a full time project manager primarily to manage a platform upgrade project.


SaskPower is seeking an experienced project manager to lead an upgrade to its TIBCO ESB Platform.  The project manager is responsible to deliver the project following SaskPower’s project methodology and industry best practices in the IT project management industry with the objective of delivering to scope, on time and on budget.


The candidate will be required to work on site at SaskPower, M-F 8am to 5pm.  As with all projects some overtime may be required to meet project timelines.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Project Management Services are responsible for coordinating activities.  The ultimate objective is to ensure that assigned projects are successfully tracked, reported on and implemented on time and on budget, meeting or exceeding customer expectation such as;
    • Project Management Request
    • Project Planning
    • Integration Management
    • Project Execution
    • Scope Management
    • Risk Management
    • Cost Management
    • Time Management
    • Procurement Management
    • Quality Management
    • Human Resource Management
    • Communications Management
    • Stakeholder Management
  • Develop and provide project governance (structure, roles, etc.)
  • Prepare project proposals and estimates, as appropriate, to include cost, ongoing maintenance support requirements, risk, alternatives, and recommendations, with specific references to any variances to SaskPower standards.
  • Work with Project Management services to tailor project management process, as required (“right size”).
  • Responsible and accountable to comply with established project management process, tools, and templates.
  • Develop Project Charter.
  • Use Earned Value Management tools or techniques (CPI/SPI).
  • Prepare estimates/proposals for cost and timing of the project.
  • Maintain the performance measurement baselines.
  • Monitor and control project work.
  • Direct and manage project execution.
  • Ensure Configuration management for technical and administrative areas, as it pertains to the project.
  • Manage integrated change control of the project.
Position Qualifications:
  • Degree / Diploma in Computer Science, Business Administration or related equivalent
  • PMP, PMI Certification
  • Demonstrated 5 – 10 years experience managing projects in a large corporate environment.
  • Similar Technical Platform experience (TIBCO) is preferred
  • Experience managing IT technical upgrades.
  • Understanding of the energy sector is a plus.
