Position:

As a member of the IT management team, this position leads and manages the SAP Technical Team in the design, configuration, monitoring, tuning, patching, upgrading and troubleshooting of the SAP technical environment. The position ensures that the ERP system is designed to enable an effective, transparent and accountable corporate, system that aligns, enables and supports our clients’ strategic objectives.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Ensures the SAP technical design and architecture aligns with corporate business goals, providing the organization with an efficient, effective and well performing SAP landscape.
  • Analyzes strategic SAP business issues, challenges and opportunities, ensuring technical solutions are designed with a corporate lens, aligned to meet corporate business objectives and the overall IT strategy.
  • Engages SAP Functional team in order to estimate and plan all work effort relating to SAP Basis activities and Technical architecture components ensuring all support activities align with functional and business timelines minimizing system downtime.
  • Manages SAP technical architecture ensuring the analysis, design and build are appropriately aligned for:
    • Development architecture
    • Execution architecture – technical strategy for printing, batch scheduling, remote access, etc.
    • Operations architecture – Daily Backup, Recovery, Disaster recover, High availability, mobility,
    • Infrastructure architecture – Sizing, storage, virtualization, desktop requirement, networks, etc.
  • Plans and manages SAP systems maintenance schedule ensuring scheduling aligns with corporate operational and SAP Functional Team schedules.
  • Identifies supported systems approach for the integration and interfacing of other systems with SAP and provides technical guidance to ensure approach is implemented.
  • Manages the implementation, upgrade and support of the latest SAP systems versions, (HANA, ECC, S4, BI/BW, ISU, BOBJ, SolMan Netweaver, FIORI).
  • Ensures appropriate technical system documentation is created for the entire SAP Landscape. Including: business processes, stakeholder/systems requirements, configuration, procedures, training as well as evaluation measures and accountabilities
  • Engages IT Technical Services team to design, test and implement Data Replication and Disaster Recovery services to safeguard corporate ERP assets.
  • Maintains a strategic perspective, incorporating and integrating the interests of stakeholders with broader organizational objectives to ensure department and corporate needs are aligned and balanced.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships between IT and stakeholders to ensure organizational needs are assessed and appropriate solutions identified to align with corporate priorities and departmental objectives.
  • Provides leadership to the SAP Technical team to ensure new ideas and knowledge of current information technology trends support and align with IT vision and stakeholders’ needs and operational requirements.
  • Uses strong leadership, coaching and employee development skills to create a highly competent and engaged team of professionals with the knowledge, skills and abilities to deliver on current operational priorities and to identify and address future needs.
  • Estimates and plans all work effort relating to SAP Basis activities and Technical architecture components
  • Defines and manages sizing of the SAP solution and managing of process with the hardware provider / hosting provider
Position Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with significant progressive experience including 5 years’ experience managing and directing a SAP technical team in a large IT department.
  • The successful applicant will have a track record of successfully executing SAP technical projects that enhance and support the performance and stability of ERP business operations and have knowledge of HANA, BASIS, BW, patching and Linux.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the development and implementation of corporate IT strategies and initiatives; ideally in the area of SAP technical strategy and planning.
  • Extensive experience supporting all technical aspects of support an SAP Landscape and leading others in this support function.
  • Demonstrated, hands on, skills in SAP technical process design, setup and deployment including troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Extensive Linux and Windows server experience.
  • Extensive experience with HANA.
  • Experience in SAP project lifecycles (e.g. implementations and upgrades).
  • Extensive understanding of SAP best practice on Backup and Recovery.
  • Experience leading and influencing SAP technical and business teams, consultants and stakeholders to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.
  • Thorough knowledge of IT project management techniques, software development methodologies, system architecture, design and implementation.
  • Experience providing technical support for IT developed business applications.
  • Ability to work closely with process owners and other key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of and experience with data modeling techniques and best practices.
  • Knowledge of business process modeling techniques and best practices.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
